Biography
Dr. Barbara L. Caoili assumed her role as NCPC director in March 2022. Since then, she has provided guidance on NCPC’s operations and spearheaded several projects at the Center, such as the “Technical services in support of the FAO-Philippine GA-FAW Program” and “Understanding the roles of women in fall armyworm (FAW) management in maize in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia.”
In the course of her career, she has produced a long list of research outputs and publications that have enriched the scientific community and have helped in advancing crop protection in the country.
Alongside her role as NCPC director, she is also a faculty member at the Institute of Weed Science, Entomology and Plant Pathology.
Before becoming the NCPC director, she was the Associate Dean for Research and Extension of the UPLB College of Agriculture and Food Science.
Dr. Caoili received her BS Agriculture and MS Entomology degrees from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. She then obtained her Doctor of Agricultural Science degree from Nagoya University in Japan.
