September 30, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Full Seminar Title: Learnings from the 14th IUPAC International Congress of Crop Protection Chemistry and IUPAC Next Generation Summit (Echo seminar)
This IUPAC congress has served as the premier forum of international exchange of scientific information and to discuss emerging issues of global significance in agriculture since 1967. The congress together with the IUPAC Next Generation Agri Summit took place from 19 to 23 May 2019 in Ghent, Belgium. The conference program is guided by emerging trends in the crop protection domain with a focus on crop protection chemistry. The emphasis of the 2019 meeting will be around “Crop Protection: Education of the Future Generation” which is believed the most efficient way towards sustainable farming. Among the topics are the following: emerging issues and challenges, agricultural biotechnology, discovery and synthesis, ecosystem and human exposure and risk assessment, residues in food and feed, etc. The echo seminar on September 30, 2019 will discuss some of the participants’ learnings from the said event. Specifically, they will introduce the IUPAC and NGAGE; they will also touch the subject on RNAi and cyclolipopeptides as used in crop protection; and they will share their experiences with their field excursions in INAGRO and The Flanders research institute for agriculture, fisheries and food (ILVO).
