A 3-day online research results dissemination and learning event was conducted on 21-23 June 2022 by the National Crop Protection Center (NCPC) in partnership with the Cagayan State University (CSU) and in collaboration with Benguet State University (BSU) and De La Salle University (DLSU). 

The event, which was held via Zoom and was streamed live on the Facebook and YouTube accounts of NCPC and CSU, sought to disseminate the results of the DA-BAR-funded project entitled “Surveillance and Detection of Microbe Utilizing Molecular Techniques and Associated Thrips Vector on Onion, Garlic, and Mango in Luzon.”

Resource speakers were project personnel, namely: Dr. Cecilia P. Reyes, Retired Professor at CSU; Dr. Aurora F. Piñon, Retired Associate Professor at BSU; Dr. Bonifacio F. Cayabyab, Retired University Researcher at NCPC; Dr. Divina M. Amalin, Professor at DLSU; Ms. Lucille M. Faroden, Assistant Professor at BSU; Dr. Narceo B. Bajet, Virologist/Balik Scientist at Tarlac Agricultural University & Mariano Marcos State University; Mr. Marco Rafael M. Espino, University Researcher at the Institute of Crop Science-CAFS-UPLB; and Ms. Sarah Jane B. Manaday, University Research Associate at NCPC.

The topics discussed by the speakers are the following: thrips on carabao mango, garlic, and onion; diseases of carabao mango, garlic, and onion; good agricultural practices; bio-based pest control strategy for thrips; bioassay of Metarhizium anisopliae against Thrips hawaiiensis (Morgan); Recognition of the Virus Diseases of Allium spp.; bioassay of Metarhizium anisopliae against Thrips tabaci Lindeman; Virus Indexing: Understanding its Key Role in Garlic Production; and Isolation and identification of bacteria from garlic thrips in the Philippines.

Representatives of different farmer associations also served as reactors during the 3-day event.
