The Tourism Committee of Los Banos Science Community Foundation, Inc. (LBSCFI) in support of the Department of Tourism Region IV-A organized the first Training-Workshop on Science Tourism Development last February 27 to 28 at the TREES Training Hall, College of Forestry and Natural Resources.

The event was participated by more than fifty delegates from different agencies and institutions in Los Baños such as LSPU, SEARCA, Philippine Science for the Arts, ERDB, and various units under UP Los Baños. Romalene Limpiada and John Julius P. Manuben, as visitors’ coordinator and co-coordinator respectively, represented NCPC. These participants will serve as focal persons of the Science Tourism program of LBSCFI.

On the first day of training-workshop, Dr. Freddie A. Quinito provided insights on the value of tourism. At the end of his discussion on the development of science tourism products, each participant designed and proposed science tourism products, activities, and related services.

On the last day of training-workshop, Collins Karla E. Telmo trained the participants on how to record and report visitor arrival data. Members of LBSCFI are expected to submit monthly reports of visitor arrival data to the Los Baños Municipal Tourism Office every 1st Friday of the succeeding month.
