Biography

 Mary Joy M. Lapitan is a graduate of BS Agriculture (Plant Pathology) and MS Plant Pathology (Molecular Plant Pathology) at UPLB. Prior to joining NCPC under the Pest Management Division in 2015, she was a research assistant in several projects on banana Fusarium wilt, black Sigatoka, banana viruses, sugarcane diseases, and a virus disease on palm disease. Her project involvements include etiology of plant diseases, molecular characterization of pathogens, and disease management researches on various plant diseases namely tomato bacterial wilt, mango stem-end rot, rice diseases, emerging and re-emerging diseases of sugarcane, garlic viruses, and corn diseases. She is currently the head of the Phytobacteriology Laboratory.
