SPIDTECH is an android application aiming to help its users in identifying, managing, reporting, and monitoring major insect pests and diseases of rice, corn, coffee, cacao, banana, and coconut in the Philippines. One feature of the application is the Insect Pest and Disease Identification that uses machine learning technology to identify pests and diseases of SARAI-focus crops using mobile phone cameras. It also has Insect Pest and Disease Library that acts as a virtual encyclopedia containing data on identification signs, life stages, management practices, and other pertinent information about a pest or disease.
More than being a system for monitoring, SPIDTECH is also an educational platform that aims to raise awareness and familiarization with the common pests and diseases in the Philippines.

SARAI Project 2.4: Insect Pest and Diseases Advisory System
Mr. Guiam is the primary app developer of SPIDTECH. He is a graduate of BS Computer Science at the University of the Philippines Los Baños and currently taking his Masters in Information Technology also at UPLB.
The webinar was organized by Project SARAI with support from UPLB Information Technology Center, DOST Office of the Undersecretary for Regional Operations, DOST Regional Offices, and Project SARAI Partner SUCs.
